Devil's Triangle / Bermuda Triangle

Devil's Triangle, Bermuda Triangle, Triangle of Death. Many names many mysterious disappearances. Is there anything special about this area? Is it the weather? Gas from underground volcanoes? Or is it just that there is much traffic in the area?
